The Institute for Rational Addiction Policies and the Institute for Mental Health and Addiction Studies present the expert memorandum “Addiction Policy 2025+ – Pathway to a Sustainable and Healthy Czechia.” In the context of the upcoming 2025 parliamentary elections, it calls on political parties and candidates to commit to the principles of modern, evidence-based, and rational addiction policy. The document emphasizes harm reduction as a central principle, respect for human rights, the expansion and stabilization of prevention and treatment services, and transparent, data-driven regulation. Building on its internationally recognized model, the Czech Republic has a unique opportunity to strengthen its role as a European leader in harm reduction, replacing outdated repressive approaches with sustainable solutions that improve public health, reduce social and economic costs, and support long-term prosperity.
